About Tease & Crumpets

Tease and Crumpets is a ladies’ only dance class, teaching the seductive art of burlesque performance in a light hearted, tongue-in-cheek way that brings joy to the soul and a wiggle to the walk. The workshops are held regularly in and around North Herts. The classes are suitable for ladies of all ages, sizes, and abilities.

Class size are kept to a maximum of 20 so everyone has room to wiggle and our instructress can give each and every participant the attention she deserves.

The afternoon consists of two hours of dance tuition, a break over freshly brewed tea and yummy cakes, and a burlesque market selling fabulous corsetry, one-off hats and fascinators, original jewellery and all the other frippery of the burlesque star.

What to expect from one of our workshops

Tease & Crumpets offer various classes, so for those that want to come back for more, the classes will vary in theme and you will learn the skills to build your inner confidence and even your very own routine.

The classes suit ladies of all dancing abilities but if you have health or fitness concerns (pregnancy, limited mobility etc) please let our instructress know at the beginning of the class and she will adjust the routine accordingly to suit your ability and comfort. There is no need to miss out on the fun, we can work around you.

The Novice

These classes are suitable for all ladies and are a really brilliant way to celebrate a birthday, hen party, baby shower or graduation. The class is very light-hearted and is all about having a great girls’ day out with a splash of sauciness that will have you wiggling and shimmying with renewed self confidence. The class uses feather boas, opera gloves and a chair as props and you will learn a simple but sexy dance routine to take home with you.

The Tease

This class is all about building suspense and teasing your audience. You will be taught about owning and using the space you dance in, and how to sexily remove layers while teasingly hidden behind a parasol. A modern take on the traditional fan dance, the routine is graceful and sexy and exudes feminine charm and seduction. We have a number of umbrellas for the class to use, but if you have your own long shafted umbrella or parasol, please bring it with you.

The Temptress

This class takes your burlesque skills to a new level. You will learn about poise and balance and how to express yourself, both facially and physically while dancing. You will also learn the art of tease through the removal of a layer or two. Dancers are asked to wear stockings or hold ups and a corset for this class.

What will I have to wear?

Burlesque has everything to do with being comfortable with the body you have and learning to appreciate and love your form and the way you move. However, just because we want you to be comfortable on the inside, it does not necessarily follow that you can learn the art of Burlesque in your comfy jogging bottoms and scruffy trainers. Ladies, this is your day and a great opportunity to vamp it up and feel really good about yourself – inside and out!

So, if you are going to wear trousers, they need to be sexy trousers, not your navy blue polyester work slacks. Skirts need to have either a generous split, or be full enough to allow you to comfortably bend and move in. Heels are undoubtedly easier to feel sexy in than flats, and there are some turning moves that are hard to perform in low, grippy shoes, so dig out the kitten heels or the sky scrapers if you dare.

2) By Cheque.
Send a cheque for £30 made payable to “Corset Is” to Corset Is, 43 Benslow Lane, Flat 2, Hitchin, Herts, SG4 9RE no later than 5 working days before the class date.
Please include your name, telephone number and email address with your cheque.

Unfortunately, this is non-refundable, but if you cannot make it to the class you can give or resell your ticket to a friend.
